David Travers, 14, from Kilkenny, has won the Mondello Park Junior MINI Challenge Scholarship.
This new class is being introduced as part of the Digital Motorsports ICCR initiative for 2022, and Mondello Park held a competition to win a fully sponsored season at the wheel of one of the 120bhp machines.
Last month, 22 applicants were selected to attend Mondello Park, where they were assessed in three areas.
The candidates were interviewed, evaluated on a simulator, and drove a saloon car on track under the supervision of Mondello Park instructors.
A new race-prepared Junior MINI Cooper is provided to David, along with all of his tyres and all Mondello Park entry and test fees for the year.
The MINI Challenge will have a non-championship race at next weekend’s ICCR season opener at Mondello Park before the Championship kicks off shortly afterwards.
