Carlow’s Jordan Morrissey has been named the Electric Ireland Minor Footballer of the week.
The Eire Og youngster was instrumental in Carlow’s win over Westmeath last weekend and scored the goal which kick started the late comeback.
Morrissey beat off competition from Laois man Diarmuid Whelan and Wexford’s Jamie Myler of Wexford.
Jordan’s father Jody was a key figure in the Eire Og side that won five Leinster Senior Club Football titles in the 90’s.
The award is sure to give both the player and his teammates a big lift going into next weekends Quarter Final clash with Wexford at Netwatch Cullen Park.
