Thomastown United manager Stephen Walsh says not having their full compliment of players at the start of the season cost them dearly regarding their league prospects.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of this weekends Premier Division Cup Final, Stephen says that country clubs are affected by GAA especially at the start of the season….
“We didn’t have a strong enough panel at the start of the season. We were missing CJ Browne and Derek Brennan at the start of the year and really we were only dragging teams together and it cost us”
“I mean we were gone out of the league before the league got going meant you couldn’t afford to drop, the same with the Leinster Junior Cup, we were knocked out of that. We went up to play in Dublin and we had to pull a team together”
We had no one, and that’s the unfortunate thing about it. I suppose with Country Clubs with hurling and that, it’s hard to get players at that stage of the season”
