In the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons senior hurling championship Mt. Leinster Rangers sent out a strong notice that they would like to be in the winners enclosure come October after defeating Ballinkillen by 10 points.

In an evenly contested opening half Mt. Leinster Rngs held a one point lead 0-8 to 0-7 at the break, On the restart they quickly turned on the power and had stretched their lead to 1-16 to 0-8 as the game entered the last quarter.

Ballinkillen mounted a challenge in the closing stages but it was Rangers who bagged the two championship points on offer, with Denis Murphy shooting seven points while Eddie Byrne scored five from play and goalie Frank Foley scored Rangers goal from a penalty .
Final Score Mt. Leinster Rngs 1-20 Ballinkillen 0-13

In the Junior Hurling Championship, Naomh Eoin and Burren Rangers produced a high scoring game in Myshall accounting for eleven goals.

Burren Rangers held a two point lead at the break 5-2 to 3-6, Naomh Eoin went well ahead in the second half but were hauled back by the Rangers men and escaped with a two point win. Final Score Naomh Eoin 6-10 (28) Burren Rangers 5-11 (26)

Naomh Brid had a big win over St. Patricks 6-13 to 0-8

In Kilkenny Emeralds beat Tullaroan to win the Northern Junior Hurling Cup Final.

Ballyhale Shamrocks beat Slieverue in the Southern Junior Hurling Cup Semi final.

There was also Junior League wins for Blacks and Whites, Carrickshock and Mooncoin.

While in the Minor B Hurling League Graignamanagh beat Danesfort.
