Former Kilkenny Senior Hurler John Henderson feels that Kilkenny are struggling to win possession in the Half-forward line and reckons it’s a serious source of concern.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Saturday evening’s Leinster Championship clash at home to Wexford, John says Kilkenny are now paying the price for an over-reliance on TJ Reid.
“The biggest factor for me is the fact that we are not winning any ball in the half-forward line.
“The over-reliance on TJ Reid even as a ball-winner and to win possession is huge, but if TJ is man-marked as teams are now starting to do and have a sweeper behind, it makes it very very difficult for him.
“In doing that it makes it difficult for the rest of the forwards who just don’t seem to be getting any possession.
“Galway cleaned us out, I wouldn’t say they were hugely better hurlers, they were just bigger fitter and stronger and cleaned us out in the physicality stakes,” he said.
