Five places for Ballyhale Shamrocks on AIB GAA Hurling Team of the Year as Hutchinson takes player award

The 2021/22 AIB GAA Hurling Team of the Year features five of Ballyhale's beaten All-Ireland finalists.

Five places for Ballyhale Shamrocks on AIB GAA Hurling Team of the Year as Hutchinson takes player award

AIB GAA Hurling Team of the Year

Beaten AIB GAA Club All-Ireland finalists Shamrocks Ballyhale have claimed five of fifteen places on the 21/22 Club Team of the Year.

The overall teams for hurling and football teams were announced at a ceremony in Croke Park on Tuesday afternoon along with the hurler and football of the year winners.

While All-Ireland champions Ballygunner lead the selection with seven spots on the team, the Ballyhale contingent are well represented by full-back Joey Holden, centre back Richie Reid alongside wing-back Darragh Corcoran. TJ Reid takes the full forward spot with Eoin Cody – also named in this week’s GAA.ie hurling team of the week for his efforts against Galway on Sunday – is named at full forward.

The Waterford champions also edged the goalkeeper selection this year with Stephen O’Keeffe claiming the spot between the sticks.

A previous winner at corner forward in the 2020 team, Ballygunner’s Dessie Hutchinson was named hurling player of the year.
