For Carlow, they’re right where they want to be according to forward Marty Kavanagh.
The St. Mullins man was in good form at the weekend, he hit 1-13 for his trouble in Carlow’s 2-25 to 1-19 win over Down in the Joe McDonagh Cup.
Carlow now heads to Michael Fennelly’s Offaly this Saturday where a Joe McDonagh Cup final place isn’t out of the question.
That game is at 1 pm in O’Connor Park in Tullamore.
This is what he had to say after the game:
“We were comfortable enough in the first half but they came back at us hard in the second half,” said Marty.
“I thought we showed good character, we kept together and we didn’t panic, we organised well on the pitch and we got over the line and I think we deserved the win, I thought we were the better team all around”.
“The plan at the start, we wanted to to be in with a shout come the end (of the competition), and that’s where we want to be, (if) we beat Offaly and we’ll be in a Joe McDonagh final so it’s all to play for now, we’re looking forward to it”.
