St Kieran’s College 2-28
St Raphael’s 0-13
St Kieran’s College have moved one step closer towards another Masita Post-Primary Schools Senior All-Ireland final following a comfortable defeat of St Raphael’s in Saturday’s quarter-final.
The Kilkenny schools struggled to shrug off their opponents in the early stages with a strong wind aiding the Galway outfit.
However, a 24th minute penalty from Dicksboro’s Harry Shine saw the men in black and white pull ahead as strong performances from Aaron McEvoy, Ed McDermott and the majority of the starting line-up seen them move into a nine-point lead at half-time, St Kieran’s College 1-14 to 0-08 St Raphael’s.
That momentum continued into the second half as Kieran’s, boosted by the return of Tom McPhillips and Harry Shine, maintained their dominance and picked off scores as the game went on.
Classy forward Donnagh Murphy grabbed a second goal for Brian Dowling’s side to secure the result and 0-09 from the impressive McEvoy allowed them to ease to a 21-point victory as they responded perfectly from the Leinster final defeat to Offaly Schools earlier this month.
They will now face Cashel Community School on March 4th in the semi-final.
