Kilkenny had an easy start to their All Ireland Senior championship campaign on Saturday with a 5-24 to 2-3 win over Derry.
It was a game that Kilkenny were never going to lose and they led by 1-13 to 1-3 at the break.
Carlow were also successful in their Premier Junior Championship opener with a 1-8 to 10 points victory away to Westmeath.
Mark Brennan’s charges went in a point to the good at half time and just held on to claim victory in the end.
