Carlow finds themselves at the summit of the Division 2A table after securing a commanding 3-22 to 1-16 victory over Meath.
The Barrowsiders’ stellar performance at home was spearheaded by Chris Nolan, who showcased outstanding form, finishing the game with an impressive six points from play.
The early stages of the match saw Nicky Potterton of Meath securing an early goal, however, Carlow’s response was swift and resolute, with John Michael Nolan canceling out the early goal with one of his own. Conor Kehoe and Marty Kavanagh further solidified Carlow’s dominance by finding the back of the net, contributing to the team’s comprehensive win.
Despite the triumph, the victory was not without its challenges, as Kavanagh received a late red card for Carlow after accumulating a second yellow. The dismissal, while a setback, did little to diminish the overall success of Carlow’s performance.
Tom Mullally, reflecting on the win, emphasized the importance of having a strong and versatile panel, “We have a panel it’s not just a case of running lads out, I suppose. If a fella comes on to represent Carlow, he’s representing Carlow. And if that’s five minutes or 75 minutes, I mean, we expect he puts as much work into it as possible. So mentally lads have to be ready for that. We don’t know what’s going to happen here, come Leinster Championship time.”
Elsewhere, Laois secured a victory over Kildare, while Down emerged victorious against Kerry in the other games.
