In a weekend of high-stakes action in the JJ Kavanagh and Sons Carlow Senior Hurling Championship, Saint Mullins and Mount Leinster Rangers emerged victorious. Saint Mullins wedged out Ballinkillen, ultimately with a scoreline of 3-23 to 4-17.

Meanwhile, the defending Carlow Senior Champions, Mount Leinster Rangers, finally found their stride against Bagenalstown after two frustrating draws in their opening games. With their semi-final spot on the line, the Rangers delivered a commanding performance, winning 24 points to 9. Scoring 12 points in each half, the Rangers showcased their ability to maintain consistency and capitalize on their scoring opportunities.

Paul O’Brien, the manager of Mount Leinster Rangers, was satisfied with his team’s performance. “We were keen on a win after the two draws in the first two games,” O’Brien said. “I suppose we were better than we have been in the first two games, and that’s what we were looking for. We got a high level of work rate from the start, and that’s what we were after. We were consistent, and look, we would have liked a goal or two thrown in there among the mix, but efficiency-wise, we were making smart decisions to shoot at different stages, which was good. There was an extra pass being given to a fella in a good position, which is good to see.”
