The stage is set for the Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-finals, following a dramatic weekend of action. Danesfort, fresh off their thrilling penalty shootout victory over Rower Inistioge, will face Young Irelands, while Mooncoin are set to take on Lisdowney.

These highly anticipated clashes will take place over the weekend of October 5th and 6th.

Danesfort’s victory over Rower Inistioge was a nail-biter, with both teams battling through to a penalty shootout after a fiercely contested game. Reflecting on the win, Danesfort defender Paul Murphy shared his thoughts on the tense encounter:

“It’s great when you come out the other side of it having won, but I think for both sides there, looking down the barrel of penalties, we both had the chance to win it. I’d say the Rower will look at it that they were seven points up, probably with 10 minutes to go. We’re delighted we fought back. We went up by three points and I suppose those balls landing around the square, sometimes they go in, sometimes they don’t, but you have nightmares over them if you lose the game, you know? So anybody who paid admission today got their full value.”

The semi-final matchups promise more thrilling hurling action, as Danesfort, Young Irelands, Mooncoin, and Lisdowney battle for a coveted spot in the final. Fans can expect another exciting weekend of championship drama as the road to glory intensifies.
