Eire Og are Carlow Under 21 football champions after they came with a late flourish in a top class final to beat St. Andrews of Bagenalstown at Netwatch Cullen Park yesterday- it finishedEire Og 3-10 St. Andrews 1-8
St. Andrews got off to a great start with a Liam Galway goal after thirty seconds, Seven minutes later Cian Dowling had Eire Og on level terms.
The opening half belonged to the defences on both sides as the forwards were well curtailed, three minutes before the break Jordan Morrissey went on a forty metre solo run and shot past Rory Doyle this was a decisive score for Eire Og as they retired 2-2 to 1-2 at the break.
The second half produced some excellent passages of play and great point taking especially Adam Murphy for Eire Og and Jamie Clarke for St. Andrews.
Ten minutes remaining St. Andrews were within a point of Eire Og 2-6 to 1-8. Eire Og finished the stronger and when Reece Denniffe converted a penalty the cup was on its way to Teach Asca.
Meanwhile Tinryland won the minor football ‘B’ championship defeating Naomh Eoin-Miseal by 2-18 to 0-1.
All the Championships are now completed in Carlow there is only one more game the senior football league Div. 2 final between St. Andrews and Naomh Eoin and that brings down the curtain on the domestic scene for 2016
