It’s on.

Having missed out on a title shot against Rhys McKee at BAMMA 28 in January of this year, ‘Magic’ Myles Price (9-6) is set to step back into the cage at BAMMA 30 in Dublin’s 3 Arena in July.

His opponent, Philip ‘The Honeybadger’ Mulpeter.

As reported by Severe MMA on Wednesday, the pair are now booked to face off on July 7 in a lightweight bout as BAMMA returns to Ireland for their second show here this year.

Portarlington native Mulpeter (7-5), fighting out of SBG Ireland, returns to the cage after a two year absence, giving up a decision to Vitor Nobrega at IPC6 in January 2015 (watch that fight below).

Both men have had the misfortune in recent times of picking up injuries late in the promotion process, injury also ruling Price out of BAMMA’s most recent visit to Ireland in January. Now both are looking on point and ready to go for July .

‘Magic’ returns to the cage having put away Mario Saeed at BAMMA 24 in September of last year, avenging a decision loss to Kane Mousah at BAMMA 22 earlier in 2016. He had been booked to face Rhy McKee for the lightweight belt in Belfast at BAMMA 28 before injury put paid to that contest. McKee dropped the title late in the first round to Liverpool’s Tim Barnett who will make his first title defence against Mario Saeed at BAMMA 29 on 12 May.

Speaking on the announcement of the fight, Price paid compliment to his upcoming opponent.

“To be honest, I like Phil”, says Price.

“He’s a former team mate and a top bloke. Plus, he’s a better challenge than any of those scrawny pushovers fighting for the lightweight belt at the moment.”

“I’m embracing the challenge and looking forward to bringing the win back to Team Ryano and Kilkenny, but make no mistake – I respect Phil, but I will run through him come July 7th.”

“My fight IQ is superior and my body will be peaked and ready come fight night.”

Price has certainly been keeping busy in the time since BAMMA 28, the Kilkenny man having opened the doors to Team Ryano Kilkenny this past week with fellow coach and Team Ryano stablemate Mick Brennan. Mulpeter too is well occupied this days as head coach of SBG Portarlington, his new facility opening this past February.

As it happens, fellow TRK compatriot Andy ‘The Carlow Kid’ Murphy (1-1) is also gunning for a spot on the BAMMA 30 card in Dublin, Murphy coming off his first professional win at BAMMA 28 against Belfast’s Stephen ‘The Fury Killer’ Kilifin. “Always ready” as he says himself, I wouldn’t be surprised to see his name up there along side Price.

Tickets for BAMMA 30 are currently on sale.
