As football takes a back seat, the Allianz Hurling League returns to action this coming weekend with Kilkenny and Carlow both out in search of points on Saturday and Sunday.
For Carlow, they face a trip on Saturday afternoon to Glenisk O’Connor Park in Division 2A where they’ll face an unbeaten Offaly side pushing for league honours. Having overcome Offaly last season and on the back of a strong performance and win over Down last time out, Carlow will be hoping to come away with maximum points.
Kildare and Offaly are currently tied at the top on six points apiece, Kerry in third with four points and Carlow sitting in fourth after defeats to Kildare and Kerry respectively. A win for Carlow could see them back in contention for a league semi-final place with Derry still to come. You can catch Carlow v Offaly in full on KCLR this Saturday from 2pm with thanks to Ray Whelan Ltd.
On Sunday afternoon we’ll in be in UPMC Nowlan Park as Kilkenny welcome Dublin to town for the fourth game of the Allianz Hurling League Division 1B.
While they may be expected to beat Dublin in some circles, we’re expecting a tough contest as Dublin’s hurlers look to improve on their 1-1-1 record and spring a surprise in the league, especially with Kilkenny looking ahead to the visit of Waterford to round out the league on Sunday week. With Tipperary taking on Waterford, there will be a lot of eyes on the results of this weekend’s league fixtures as we head towards locking in semi-final places.
Throw-in on Sunday is at 1.45pm and you can follow that game live on KCLR with thanks to Laharts, the home of Volkswagen and Skoda in Kilkenny.
