The Cheltenham Festival is underway today from 1 pm with crowds in attendance at the venue for the first time in two years.
Irish horses won 23 of 28 races last time out and there’ll be some serious bragging rights up for grabs again this year.
All eyes will be on the feature Champion Hurdle at half three with Rachel Blackmore looking to lead Honeysuckle to glory.
Local trainer Willie Mullins runs the second favourite Appreciate It in that race, who is trying to follow up a win in the Supreme Novice on this card a year ago, despite not having run since.
He knows it’s a big ask.
“Appreciate It loves the track, he went well there last year so I’m happy that he’s going to go there with a big chance,” said Willie.
“He’s a strong horse, I know we haven’t had a run for a year but we’ve done that before so it’s all to play for I think but we have a big hurdle to jump” he added.
