OK, so Carlow native Andy Murphy aka The Carlow Kid (1-1) may not exactly have called out Brad Pickett (jokingly, Pickett did call Murphy out in 2014 in a video made for the Tinryland man’s wedding), but we get the feeling either way that he’s headed back to the cage with BAMMA in July.
Having picked up his first professional win this year, Murphy looks recharged and ready to go again this summer following the announcement that BAMMA is returning to Dublin’s 3 Arena on July 7th. Tickets go on sale in the coming weeks.
While Murphy may not have called out the now-retired Pickett (25-14 MMA, 5-9 UFC), he’s certainly ready, and in true call-out video form, he’s willing and able to fight any man this July.
“Anyone in the featherweight division, I’ll make it rock”, says Murphy in the clip posted to Instagram.
Last time out saw Murphy pick up a TKO victory over Stephen ‘The Fury Killer’ Kilifin in Belfast’s SSE Arena on the BAMMA 28 card at the end of January, with two seconds to spare on the clock in the first round.
“I was up in Belfast whooping ass [in reference to Kilifin], Dublin’s only an hour’s trip from Carlow”, says Murphy, looking to drum up the local support straight out of the gate.
He’s not the only one gunning for a spot on the BAMMA 30 card, with Team Ryano stablemate ‘Magic’ Myles Price ready to take over the Lightweight division.

Price was lined up for a shot at the Lonsdale Lightweight title against Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee who subsequently lost surrendered the belt to late replacement Tim Barnett (TKO).
Barnett, unbeaten under BAMMA (3-0), will make his first defence at BAMMA 29 in May against Mario Saeed. Incidentalyl, Price got the better of Saeed with a second round TKO at BAMMA 24 last September but has been out of fight action since.
While there’s no opponents announced at this early stage and details only starting to appear for BAMMA 30, we reckon it’s safe to assume that at least two of Team Ryano Kilkenny will be headed to the cage in Dublin this July.
It will mark a busy summer for TRK with their new facility on the outskirts of Kilkenny City set to open in April, giving you a chance to learn from the pros in all areas of mixed martial arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, K1, fitness classes, and more.
