The game doesn’t take place till next Sunday week (18th October) but already both management teams of Bennettsbridge and St Patricks Ballyragget will be doing their homework on their opposition ahead of the big clash.
Bennettsbridge are having a whirlwind year having won the Junior County Final last season and the All Ireland Junior title at the start of 2015 beating Fullen Gaels in Croke Park.
Being promoted to Intermediate is not an easy task such is the competitiveness of the grade in Kilkenny with very well matched teams and County stars both past and present littered across the teams, therefore it’s probably easier to stay Senior than to be promoted from Intermediate.
Both finalists had tough Semi finals with Bennettsbridge overcoming St Lachtains of Freshford and St Patricks over Thomastown, all these teams have won All Ireland Club titles over the past few years so the experience of the big games will stand to them in Nowlan Park on the day.
Bennettsbridge have the League title under their belt too having toppled a tough Tullaroan side 2-20 to 2-15.
With all that in mind Bennettsbridge Hurling manager Christy Walsh says they are no under illusions about the challenge that St. Patricks Ballyragget will provide in Sunday’s weeks Final.
Speaking to KCLR, Christy says that Ballyragget men will be without question their toughest opponents for some time…..
