World tennis number one Ashleigh Barty cruised through to the quarter finals of the Australian Open with a following a 6-3 6-4 straight-sets win over Shelby Rogers.

She’s aiming to be the first home player to win the women’s singles since 1978.

Jessica Pegula also progressed as she shocked fifth seed Elina Svitolina to make the last eight of a grand slam for the first time.

Rafa Nadal remains on course to win a record breaking 21st Grand Slam title.

The Spaniard’s into the quarter finals of the Australian Open after a straight sets win over Italy’s Fabio Fognini.

He is yet to drop a set in this year’s tournament.
