At the second time of asking, Dicksboro have dispatched Danesfort from this year’s senior hurling championship in Kilkenny to set up a city derby quarter-final next weekend against O’Loughlin Gaels. The Palmerstown outfit ran out 0-15 to 1-08 winners on Saturday evening.
For Ballyhale Shamrocks on Sunday afternoon, the goals made all the difference as they saw off Fenians 3-17 to 0-16, the ten-point winning margin securing their place in the senior championship semi-finals.
Showing now signs of tiredness from book launches and an appearance on the Late Late Show, Henry Shefflin picked up 8 points (five frees) while TJ Reid (2-3) and Colin Fennelly (1-2) supplies the goals that made all the difference.
In Intermediate action 1-6 from Tullaroan’s Shane Walsh wasn’t enough for them to progress as Robbie Donnelly was in fine form for Thomastown with a 65, 6 frees and another 1-1 from play to help them past Tullaroan 1-14 to 1-08.
Elsewhere there were wins for Clara (senior), St. Patrick’s and Bennettsbridge (all Intermediate)
