Defending champions Ballyhale Shamrocks of Kilkenny take on former winners St Thomas’ of Galway in a hugely anticipated AIB GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Club Championship semi-final this Sunday in Thurles.
Ahead of that match, the Shamrocks’ last line of defence, goalkeeper Dean Mason, has been speaking with Oisin Langan.
The two meet at Semple Stadium Thurles this Sunday at 3.30pm in what is a repeat of the 2019 Final. Shamrocks won comprehensively that day, but Mason expects it to be different this time around.
“I think St. Thomas are a very good strong physical team. We played them a few years ago in the All Ireland final, but that was not St. thomas’s ability. We know that Sunday will be a real test, a real battle, and a test of character for everyone on our team.”
With the game being played in Semple Stadium, Mason reflects on his memories of playing on the pitch.
“I have only played there twice, we lost the first time and won the second time, so it is 50/50 for me. We played Ballgunnar a few years ago in the semi final and I also played there with St. Kierans in the colleges All Ireland and we lost that day. Hopefully, this Sunday goes the way I want it to go.”
The game will be live on KCLR at 3.30pm with the full interview from Dean playing just before the game.
Brendan Hennessy and Michael Walsh will be calling that game at FBD Semple Stadium with thanks to Gerry Comerford Drilling. There will also be a man of the match competition running between that game and KCLR Breakfast with a €50 steak on the stone voucher for Rafters Gastro Pub up for grabs.
