It was always expected to be a close game with two well matched sides but it was extremely tight at the end of Sundays Intermediate hurling Final between Bennettsbridge and St Patricks Ballyragget.

Two goals in the opening 13 minutes from Michael Brennan of St Patrick’s seemed to suggest they were going to put an end to Bennettsbridges fantastic run of form since turning Intermediate at the start of the year, but it gave them a huge kick and they fought back into the game with Ballyragget only holding a 12 points to 10 advantage at half time.

Ballyragget kept their noses in front in the second half and went down to 14 men with 7 minutes remaining, at this stage Bennettsbridge were closing in and could have pipped them at the post but the referees whistle brought the game to a replay, possibly next weekend.

The final score –  Bennettsbridge 0-20, St Patricks Ballyragget 3-11.
