Borris-ileigh Senior Hurling Manager Johnny Kelly says that the bereavements within the parish over the last year have brought the whole community closer together.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland Club Final against Ballyhale Shamrocks, Johnny says the success of the Hurling Team has brought some solace during the parish’s difficulties.
He said “For the greater community, the GAA or the Hurling Club have provided some sort of solace in the fact that people are out there and they are talking about hurling and they are going to the games and it’s a good distraction I suppose in that respect”.
“Certainly it’s like everywhere else it’s a really tight community, it’s a small population down there, a small village, everyone knows everyone so it has, it has brought community together and it’s been at least someway joyous over the last number of weeks”.
