Two more fights have been officially announced for Brave 13 in Belfast next month including a return to action for SBG’s Cian Cowley.
The Dubliner hit the headlines for the wrong reasons alongside Conor McGregor in New York earlier this year, but will head to the Brave Combat Federation cage on 9 June to face Daniel Olejniczak.
A decorated Muay Thai fighter, Cowley made his professional debut at BAMMA 29 just over 1 year ago today. Facing England’s David Khalsa in Birmingham, Cowley shipped a first round submission. Khalsa (2-2) has stayed active within BAMMA himself and wrapped up his fourth fight for the organisation with a defeat at the hands of Nathan Rose in March.
Oh, and Cowley (in the purple trunks below) is packing bucket loads of knock out power.
When Cowley makes for Belfast in June, it’s to face Daniel ‘Obi Wan’ Olejniczak (2-1-1) who got the better of SBG’s Steve Owens at BAMMA 35 last weekend.
The Polish native took a unanimous decision win over Owens at 170lbs. When himself and Cowley clash in the SSE Arena, it will be a catchweight bout.
Karl Amoussou v Rodrigo Cavalheiro
Also announced for the Brave 13: Europe Evolution card is Karl Amoussou v Rodrigo Cavalheiro at Welterweight. 32 year old Amoussou (24-8-2) is brother of French MMA pioneer Bertrand Amoussou.
The former Pride FC fighter was thrilled about the debut of his brother with the promotion.
“We had a great fight camp with KHK MMA Fight Team in Bahrain. That was a great experience for him. We also had some training partners coming to MAA Fight Team Geneva, to help Karl for his next fight. Karl will be more than ready for his Brave Combat Federation debut. Be there and don’t miss the fight.”
The younger Amoussou is a veteran of Bellator, Strikefore and Cage Warriors, most recently fighting on Cage Warriors 89 in Belgium last November.
Having claimed the vacant CW welterweight title with a first round stoppage over Matt Inman in February 2017, he surrendered the title on his first defence against UFC veteran Dominique Steel.
Cavalheiro (22-7) fights out a Curitiba, Brazeil, and is making his second Brave appearance. His last outing was on the main card, picking up a first round stoppage victory over countryman Allesandro Gambulino in Brazil this past April.
They’ll join Kilkenny’s Magic Myles Price on the card in a rematch 8 years in the making against hometown hero Norman Parke. The night’s main event sees Stephen ‘The Sniper’ Loman face SBG’s Frans Mlambo for the Brave bantamweight title.
Brave Combat Federation 13: Europe Evolution takes place at Belfast’s SSE Arena on Saturday 9 June. Tickets are available via Rollercoaster Records (Kilkenny), Hickson’s Centra (Carlow) and usual ticketmaster.ie outlets nationwide.
