The Carlow Car Club returns to Mondello Park this weekend to run it’s annual Irish Championship Car Race event. The single day race meeting, on Sunday August 13th, will run on the County Kildare venue’s National Track with a fourteen race timetable planned.

The event will be the penultimate 2017 Irish Championship Car Race event at the circuit and will be headlined by two races each for the Patch Tyre Equipment Fiesta ST Championship and the Mondello Park Fiesta Zetec championship. The Fiesta race series continue to attract the biggest grids of all the Irish racing classes, as well as providing close and exciting racing.

Single Seater action will be provided by the E.Fox Engineers Formula Vee Championship which will be contested over two races, a qualifier and the main race. The Vee’s have seen an increase in entries during 2017 and the battle at the head of the field has benefited with half a dozen drivers still in contention in the championship, which is led by Colm Balckburn from former champion Dan Polley.

Some saloon racing variety will be on offer in the Tool Dynamics Irish Touring Car Championship which has two rounds scheduled. The varied grid will be led by the fire breathing Mazda of championship leader Shane Rabbitt, followed by second placed Keith Campbell’s Volkswagen Corrado and the Honda of Robert Savage, who sits third in the standings having won the three races he has finished this season.

Rounding out the programme will be a single race for the Retro Racers of the micksgarage.com Future Classics class, a double header for Ginetta Junior Ireland and three races for Legends, complete with their usual reversed grid format.
