The stage is set for an exciting weekend of football in Carlow, as the Senior Football Championship semi-final pairings have been confirmed. Following a competitive quarter-final round, four teams remain in the hunt for county glory.

Rathvilly, after their win over Bagnelstown Gaels, will face a formidable challenge in Old Leighlin. Meanwhile, defending champions Eire Og will take on Palatine in what promises to be a high-octane clash.

The Eire Og vs Palatine semi-final is scheduled for Saturday night at Netwatch Cullen Park, with throw-in at 7:15 pm. Rathvilly and Old Leighlin will go head-to-head the following day, Sunday, at 3:45 pm. Both matches will be broadcast live on KCLR, with thanks to Dan Morrissey and Co.

Speaking after Rathvilly’s quarter-final win, their star player Eric Molloy shared his thoughts on the upcoming challenge against Old Leighlin: “They’ve been flying this year, and you can obviously see some of the videos online of different players from them that are doing really well at the minute. It’s going to be a tough test, and yeah, it’s going to be a good challenge.”

In addition to the senior action, the Talbot Hotel Intermediate Football Championship is also reaching its climax, with two semi-finals lined up. Grange will take on Fenagh on Saturday at 5:30 pm, while Kildavin Clonegal face St Patrick’s of Tullow on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Both matches will take place at Netwatch Cullen Park.

On Friday night, attention will shift to the Junior Football Championship semi-finals, with two local derbies set to light up the evening. Ballon meet Kilbride at 7:00 pm, followed by Fighting Cocks vs Leighlinbridge at 8:30 pm, both under the lights at Netwatch Cullen Park.

With so much football on offer, the weekend promises to deliver plenty of drama and excitement as teams across Carlow battle it out for a place in their respective finals. Make sure to tune in to KCLR for live coverage of all the key matches.
