Tinryland man Michael Doran is the new Carlow GAA County Secretary, Michael was unopposed for the position at the one hundred and twenty eight Carlow Convention hosted by the Ballon Club last evening

He takes over from Gerard Lennon St. Mullins who steps down after five years.

Ger now becomes Central Council delegate a position that Michael Doran had held for the past five years.

Two new officers came in to the fold John Brophy from the Eire Og club is Coaching and Games officer he takes over from P.J. Fox of Naomh Eoin who did not seek re-election as his five year term was also up,

Brian O’Neill from the Palatine Club takes over as Development Officer he was un-opposed for the position
John Dunphy from the Eire Og club is the new assistant treasurer John was the serving Development Officer and his five year term was also up, he defeated Brian O’Donoghue of Rathvilly in a straight vote

Outgoing Assistant treasurer Vinny O’Brien from the Asca club did not seek re-election his five year term was also at an end.

All remaining officers were returned un-opposed

Treasurer, Cormac O’Toole presented all the accounts and balance Sheet showing a surplus of fifty eight thousand euro on a turn-over of a million euro.

Motions

Mt. Leinster Rngs were successful in their motion asking to change the rules
That a team that wins a county title in intermediate or junior even though it is the second team from the club be allowed to compete at provincial championship levels It was passed unanimously.

Carlow Town were also asking to change rules
For inter club transfers, Players not eligible for transfer if players seeking a transfer have come through a club juvenile system This motion was lost.

Kildavin-Clonegal withdrew their motion.

Chairperson Sean Campion delivered a very good address ending convention on a high.

Convention will be hosted by the Ballinkillen Club in 2018.

Uachtarain Cumann Luthchleas Gael Ceatharlach L.V. Conway made presentations to the two officers P. J. Fox and Vinny O’Brien who were stepping.
