Reported in the past few days, Carlow GAA have made the official announcement of Eamonn Callaghan’s appointment to Niall Carew’s backroom team for the 2023 season.

A short statement on Monday morning confirmed the details.

“Carlow GAA is delighted to announce the addition of Eamonn Callaghan to our Senior Football Management Team as Performance Coach.”

“The Naas clubman made a record number of appearances for Kildare and brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the role.”

Carlow’s footballers endured a tough league campaign earlier this year, picking up just one win from seven, including upset defeats to Sligo and London.

They managed to avenge league defeat against Tipperary with a 1-12 to 1-10 win in the Tailteann Cup but would fall to Westmeath in the quarter-finals of this year’s second-tier cup competition.

It is understood that Callaghan will have a key role to play in player welfare and individual coaching for the season ahead.
