Carlow got their 2016 Allianz Hurling League campaign off to the best possible start by sealing a 2-13 to 0-14 win over Kildare in Newbridge on Sunday.
Kevin Regan and Terrence Kelly were there for KCLR to call the action – listen back below to full commentary of the game.
After the game, Kevin Regan spoke to Carlow manager Pat English about his side’s win and getting the job done in the first round.
The first twenty minutes we started slowly but I knew Kildare would come out of the blocks very well and I warned the lads of that. But, we ground them down, we went in a point down at half time and that’s credit to the lads for not panicking. We could have thrown in the town and they didn’t and we grew as the game went on.
We came to get a win, we got a win and it doesn’t matter what it is.
Carlow welcome London next to Netwatch Cullen Park in the second round of the National Hurling League.
