It’s all systems go for the Women’s Inter League Cup Final between Carlow & District Football League and Kilkenny & District Football League at IT Carlow on Saturday 9 April.

The launch of the Leinster Football Association event, which also features the LFA Shield Final between Combined Counties Football league and Kildare District Football League took place on Wednesday night at the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow with representatives from the clubs, league bodies and sponsors and local media.

We’ll be bringing you video interviews and highlights from the night in the build up to the local derby in in fortnight’s time with management.

The pressure for now is divided equally between the sides. It’s rare enough to get a derby at final level and as suggested by last night’s launch, it may be the last time it will happen with pending changes to competition and league structures. Home advantage lies with Carlow and IT Carlow in the venue, while Kilkenny are chasing a third successive final victory.

Both camps are optimistic with the general feeling that it will go right down to the wire on the day.

Keep an eye on the Fanzone over the coming days for video interviews with Kilkenny captain Ailsing O’Grady, Carlow’s captain and vice captain Aisling Behan and Kelly Nolan, Carlow manager Kevin McLoughlin and Kilkenny manager Fran Egan. On air we’ll also hear from FAI development officer Gary Cody, LFA general secretary Peter Doyle and more players and backroom staff involved in the finals.

Kildare and the Combined Counties face off in the Shield Final at 1pm while Carlow and Kilkenny chase the Angela Hearst Memorial Cup at 3pm on Saturday 9 April. A special showcase game between local academy sides will take place at half time during the cup final.
