Carlow Senior Footballers suffered a disappointing 2-24 to 3-11 defeat to Louth yesterday in the Leinster Senior Football Championship at O Moore Park in Portlaoise.
Sean Gannon registered the opening the score of the game for Carlow and despite two points from Brendan Murphy, Louth led by 0-11 to 0-6 at the interval.
Am opportunistic goal from Chris Blake made it a one point game just five minutes into the second half and after Louth tagged on more scores in response a superb goal from Darragh O Brien made it 2-8 to 0-16 entering the last quarter.
However Carlow just couldn’t build on that momentum and Louth struck for two sucker punch goals late on, before Paul Broderick scored Carlow’s 3rd goal from the penalty spot.
Carlow now have to regroup ahead of the Qualifiers next month.
