Carlow man Bobby Crowley is headed for the University of Michigan on a scholarship off the back of an excellent underage running career.
At a young age he first showed prominence on the club scene, winning an All Ireland under 11 cross country for his club St Laurence o Tooles.
His cross country awards since were primarily team awards. At club level winning All Irelands from 16 to 19 and two prestigious silver team awards at schools level, with Knockbeg College.
On the track he has showed greatest potential at the 1500m distance. He has won a number of school and club medals at All Ireland level over the metric mile.
The high point thus far would be his 5th place finish in the European Youth Championships over 1500 in 2016.
As a racer Bobby generally maximises his physical talent through shrewd tactical awareness. His finishing kick, while it can be improved, has proven crucial when allied to the aforementioned tactical awareness.
His trip to America will bolster his aerobic base and add strength to his track speed.
