Carlow man Bryan Byrne is heading across the water in a loan deal that will see him join the Bristol Bears till the end of the season.

The Leinster hooker joins the Premiership side having made only five appearances with the men in blue this season.

Bryan and his twin brother Ed have been part of the side for the last few years however with more competition for the number 2 jersey, game time has become limited.

Bristol are currently fourth in the Premiership, just four points shy of second-place Northampton.
