Carlow man Marcus Lawler finished up his 2021 season with a very fast 4×100 metre relay in Budapest in Hungary.
The Olympian ran a leg of the race with the Irish squad of Stephen Gaffbey from Rathfarnham, Mark Smyth from Raheny and Conor Morey from Leevale.
The lads recorded a pacey 39.68 which is the fifth-fastest ever by an Irish quartet.
It brings the curtain down on Marcus’ season that saw him join Dublin club Clonliffe harriers and break their 200 metres record three times.
Marcus also took bronze in the 200 metres at the nationals and of course the big one was his season’s best at the Tokyo Olympics.
