Carlow Senior Hurling Manager Colm Bonnar admits it’s a daunting dask coming up against one of the most formidable teams this afternoon in Ennis especially with the Christmas season having just ended over the past few weeks.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Carlow’s opening League clash today(Sunday) against Clare, Colm admits it was difficult for the players to enjoy themselves over the holiday season as they didn’t want to too far of the pace once the league commences.
He said “Christmas comes and you are trying to let the lads off and say look enjoy ourselves, let the hair down, but again at the back of their minds, they are kind of thinking I have games coming up, I have to be as fit as I can on the 26th of January, they have the likes of Shane O’Donnell and John Conlon and Colm Galvin, Podge Collins, Tony Kelly, these lads will coming at 100 miles an hour at the Carlow lads”.
“You know you don’t get much time to kind of to say look, this is an off season for me, I can kind of let a month or two go here and I will get back into it because if you do, you are falling too far behind and you will pay the price”.
