Carlow man Padraig Amond will be in action tonight with League Two side Newport County in the Carabao Cup as they entertain Newcastle United from 5.30 pm

Amond will be looking to bypass both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus as the man who has scored the most goals in the both fa and carabao cup since the 2017/2018 season. Both currently players sit on 13 goals each.

The former Shamrock and Sligo Rovers striker had previously scored in 8 consecutive FA cup games, a run which began with a 1-1 draw against Spurs. The roller coaster ride went into the next season and included a goal against Man City ( Below) which helped him cement joint top goalscorer of the competition.

In a poll done on Twitter by the official FA Cup page, the Carlow native narrowly missed out on being included in the FA Cup team of the decade. Nearly 30,000 people voted, with Amond receiving 40.8% of the vote. He eventually lost out to Wolves player Raul Jimenez who had 41.7%.

Newport last week defeated recently relegated side Watford in the last round, with Amond once again getting on the scoresheet. Is another giant killing on the cards against Premiership side Newcastle?

🎉 Happy Birthday to our leading scorer this season, Padraig Amond! 💛
