The JJ Kavanagh & Sons Carlow senior hurling championship heads to the final round of group games this coming weekend, all that remains being the specific matchups for the semi-final qualifiers of St. Mullins, Mount Leinster Rangers, Bagenalstown Gaels and Ballinkillen.
This past Saturday served up a heavy defeat for Bagenalstown who went down 3-26 to 0-08 at the hands of St. Mullins while Mount Leinster Rangers had a 1-16 to 1-09 win over Ballinkillen. In the basement scrap and the opening of the triple-header at Netwatch Cullen Park, Naomh Eoin got their first points on the board with a 1-19 to 0-08 win over Naomh Brid.
St. Mullins and Mount Leinster Rangers remain likely to finish first and second respectively, with this coming Friday’s meeting between Ballinkillen and last year’s beaten county finalists Bagenalstown Gaels jockeying for third and fourth. For the winners, it’s a semi-final clash against Mount Leinster Rangers with the losers taking on St. Mullins over the August bank holiday weekend.
