Carlow Senior Hurling Championship Round 2 Reports

MLR

By Kevin Regan

Mount Leinster Rangers 3-22, Ballinkillen 0-4

Mount Leinster Rangers sent tremors through the county with a 3-22 to 4 points win over Ballinkillen.

MLR had built up a commanding lead at half time 1-9 to 0-3, however two quick goals from Ted Joyce and Denis Murphy killed off the Ballinkilen challenge

Murphy finished with a personal tally of 2-9

St Mullins 1-19, Erins Own 1-10

St. Mullins got their first win of the championship defeating Erins Own by nine points. Erins Own stayed in touch as the lead changed hands on a couple of occasions.  A  Marty Kavanagh goal enabled St. Mullins to lead by 1-8 to 1-5 at half time, and with open hurling they added a further eleven points to Erins Own five in the last period

Marty Kavanagh scored 1-7 for the winners.

Naomh Eoin 3-24, Naomh Brid 1-11

The third game of the weekend was the meeting of Naomh Brid and Naomh Eoin on Sunday at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Naomh Brid lost Mark Brennan through injury early on, but little was going to stop Naomh Eoin regardless and they really proved their point having lost heavily to Ballinkillen the previous week.

Second half goals from John Michael Nolan, Ross Smithers and Tommy Nolan gave Naomh Eoin a 3-24 to 1-11 victory
