Carlow man Ed Byrne will miss Ireland’s game against Scotland in the Autumn Nation’s Cup third-place play-off on Saturday.
Byrne suffered a calf injury in training during the week and will be unavailable for the clash with Scotland.
Byrne is among several players who have been ruled out of Ireland’s final game of the competition.
The loosehead props Leinster teammates James Lowe and Will Connors are also sidelined for Saturday’s match along with Ulster fly-half Billy Burns.
There is some good news however for Andy Farrell’s out of form side who will welcome back returning captain Johnny Sexton and Robbie Henshaw.
Munster duo Keith Earls and Conor Murray have also recovered from their respective injuries and are expected to be passed fit for Ireland’s game with Gregor Townsend’s Scotland side.
Ireland will be hoping to end a disappointing campaign with a second consecutive victory following their underwhelming 23-10 victory over minnows Georgia last weekend.
