Carlow’s footballing ability is second to none – Steven Poacher

Carlow Senior Football coach Steven Poacher says the footballing ability within the squad is second to none.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of this Saturday’s National Football League Division 4 Final against Laois, Stephen says there is no reason why the squad can’t progress even further.

“There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the potential and the footballing ability in this squad is second to none”, says Poacher.

“You have players the likes of Brendan Murphy. He is as good a footballer that there is in the country. Paul Broderick is one of the best forwards I have ever worked with.

“You have got long-standing defenders like Shane Redmond, Daniel St. Ledger. You have got serious talent, young talent, young Jordan Morrissey coming through there as well. You have phenomenal talent, and one thing that Carlow possess as well is a phenomenal size and physique and power.”

“There is no reason why the team can’t progress even further.”

Having succumbed to Laois in the league at the weekend – setting up a league final against their neighbours – a Division 4 title would be the cherry on the cake for this season.

After over thirty years, Carlow will play their football one division higher in 2019. Their final test of the league campaign is in Croke Park this Saturday afternoon. After that, it’s all eyes on the Championship for the summer.

We’ll have full coverage of Carlow v Laois with thanks to EPT Carlow, throwing in a 3pm this Saturday afternoon on KCLR and online at kclrfanzone.com.
