Kilkenny suffered their first league defeat at the hands of Brian Lohan’s Clare side.
The Banner County seem to have the Cat’s number recently with having previously no experienced a loss in their last five encounters. Regardless of the stat Lohan was under no illusion that it would not be a tough test, speaking with Scoreline.ie the Clare bainisteoir said,
“Anytime that Kilkenny come to down, it is a big day for us. It allows us to see where we are by pitting ourselves against the best hurlers in the country.”
Kilkenny did manage a good period for awhile and started to come back more into the game before eventually edging ahead. When asked was he worried at any stage Lohan replied,
“It was the kind of game you were not going to dominate. So good teams like Kilkenny will feel you out after a couple of minutes and hurt you. We seen that in the third quarter in particular. We got the tonic of the goal in the fourth quarter and that set us up.”
“It’s such a big commitment from the guys. They are looking for the opportunity or chance. ”
