Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown edged out Dublin’s Ardscoil Rís on Tuesday afternoon at Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow.

The first half played out tight enough, Lisdowney man Brian Kavanagh opening the scoring for Colaiste Mhuire who found themselves 0-04 to 0-02 up after 12 minutes, all scores coming from frees and by half time, the sides were level at 0-07 apiece.
Both sides went on to pick up another seven points each through out the second half, Johnstown leading by a point heading into injury time before Sean Currie rescued an equaliser for Ardscoil Ris to force extra time.

Kavanagh’s free taking came to the fore again, Colaiste Mhuire pulling away in the second half of extra time with three unanswered scores, David Nolan pointing for the final score of the game to wind the final out at 0-20 to 0-15.
