It’s a crucial weekend for the Carlow hurlers and footballers with both sides beginning their championship campaigns.
Victories for the Barrowsiders’ would see them look forward to a potentially exciting summer, while defeat will leave both teams on the backfoot immediately.
It’s the turn of Tom Mullally’s hurlers on Saturday as they welcome league runners-up Kildare to Netwatch Cullen Park for a 3pm throw-in in the opening round of the Joe McDonagh Cup.
Following a mixed league campaign, the 2018 winners of this competition will be hoping to get the better of the Lilywhites after David Herity’s charges ruthlessly dispatched of them in the same stadium earlier this year.
We’ll have full live commentary of that game on KCLR from 3pm with Brendan Hennessy and Terence Kelly on commentary duty.
It’s all about the footballers and their Leinster championship journey on Sunday as they travel to Aughrim to face Wicklow in the first round of the provincial championship.
The sides played out an entertaining draw in January when Niall Carew’s men came from behind with 14-players to claim a point.
We’ll have live commentary of the neighbours’ clash on KCLR from 2.30pm with Brendan Hennessy and Willie Quinlan calling the game.
KCLR is the only place where you can hear full live commentary of Carlow’s Leinster championship and Joe McDonagh Cup games in 2023.
