Kilkenny Intermediate selector Pat O’Neill says competition for places on both the intermediate and senior teams is getting bigger as the league goes on.
Kilkenny’s seniors beat Offaly last weekend with a number of intermediate players introduced into the game after impressing management.
Pat told scoreline.ie that they need to be bringing through new players all the time.
“In fairness to Brian and Tommy, they’re saying it the whole time, we need to find two or three new girls this year, and after today they’re putting their hands up,” said Pat.
“We played Wexford in a challenge match last Saturday, and after today (win over Offaly) they’re putting their hands up and Wexford gave us a good lesson, it was a great learning curve for management and the players”.
“In fairness, we brought in the four or five girls there today and they put their hand up, we have a lot of competition, we’ve 13 girls at home that couldn’t come up today”.
“I think the pace is good at the moment, so hopefully down the road, we’ll be improving the whole time” he added.
