Kilkenny v Limerick

It’s Kilkenny v Limerick in Semple Stadium this Sunday for a place in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Having tasted defeat in Thurles at the hands of Galway on Sunday gone, the Cats are making the trip to Tipp once more to face the Treaty County. Throw-in is booked for 2pm.

Kilkenny saw off the Limerick challenge last year in Nowlan Park in the preliminary stages, also seeing off Limerick in 2012 and 2014.

Sunday’s game marks a massive weekend of sport for Irish fans. Kilkenny and Galway’s minor hurling clash will serve as the curtain raiser, there’s a full card of All Ireland football quarter finals to play out and the small matter of this year’s World Cup Final at 4pm.

Clare will face Wexford at 3pm on Saturday in the weekend’s other quarter final, the winners progressing to face Cork or Galway.

Galway were crowned Leinster champions once more on Sunday with a 1-28 to 3-15 victory in Thurles on Sunday afternoon, dropping Kilkenny into the quarter final stages.

Limerick booked their spot with Kilkenny thanks to cruising 5-22 to 0-13 win over Carlow in Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday evening.

Tickets are expected to be available from usual outlets starting Tuesday.

We’ll have full commentary and analysis this weekend with thanks to Laharts Volkswagen Kilkenny.
