Crettyard United have been knocked out of the Leinster Junior cup after being defeated by Usher Celtic at the weekend. An early Lee Salter strike was not enough to see the Carlow side thru the first half with a penalty drawing Usher level.

The travelling Dublin team grabbed the winning goal in extra time setting them up for a clash with Evergreen in the next round on Sunday the 9th. Evergreen will no doubt need to have a plan for Usher’s Jordan Buckley who was recently crowned Junior International Player of the Year by the FAI.

Freebooters, however, have progressed to the next round, David Rice scoring a goal for the blues before Gorey Rangers equalized in the dying embers of normal time. The game went to penalties, and fortunately for the Kilkenny side, Cian Rowe was on top of his game, saving two and granting ‘Booters a 4-3 win. Next up will be Dublin Bus on Saturday the 8th.

New Oak are also in Quarter final action next weekend, the Carlow premier league champions will lining out against Oliver Bond Celtic from 2 pm this coming Sunday on the Burrin Road.

At youth level both Freebooters and Hannover Harps ,issed each other in the semi final draw for FAI youths cup. Both sides have away draws to Leixlip United and St. Kevins boys.
