It can be noticeably hard to get out of the intermediate grade in Kilkenny, Their opponents Thomastown will know that better than anyone. However it could be immediate promotion for Danesfort who suffered relegation just last year.

The side have been dominate bar one blip in the league final, against Thomastown. Manager Niall Bergin has put this seasons success and last weekends semi final victory down the the quality of his hurlers;

“Delighted with the win to be honest with you. The lads had to roll up their sleeves and gave it everything. It is down to hard work, sheer grit, determination and refusing to bend. They got their rewards and now can look forward to a final.”

“Danesfort has good hurlers. They are well able to hurl, alot of young lads came of age and they stood up to be counted. Daire O’Neil was man of the match, we was superb. Des Dunne, we gave him a task to follow Darragh Joyce and he did a great job on him. So delighted for those young fellas in particular”

Thomastown defeated Carrickshock in the second semi-final by 1-14 to 1-10 as they look to finally return to the top tier of Kilkenny hurling.
