Last week Richie Mulrooney said he wanted to do the county proud by bringing home a Leinster title, and last night he accomplished that with his group of players.

Kilkenny were crowned Electric Ireland Munster minor hurling champions , when they beat Wexford 1-15 to 2-10  at Netwatch Cullen Park.

The record 59th Leinster victory came only 25 days after The Cats claimed the 2020 crown by defeating Offaly.

Speaking to scoreline after the game manager Richie Mulrooney was obviously ecstatic;

“Delighted, absolutely delighted. Every time you play Wexford its going to be a hell of a battle. I felt we should of been ahead going into halftime. We ended going in level. I got the lads to stay calm and work away, but we got hit with a sucker punch of a goal early in the second half. Then character had to be shown and in fairness it was shown.”

Going into the end of the game, with only a puck of the ball between the sides, Mulrooney was conscious of a previous result that did not go his way;

“Think back to the 10th of July, there we were in the 62nd minute with the 2020 All Ireland won. In the 62nd minute we were champions, in the 64th minute Galway were. Something similar could of happened here, but thankfully it didn’t”

You can listen back to the game right here and why wouldn’t you after Richie’s comments

“There was 500 here, you think it was 5,000! It go so so exciting”

Congratulations to Richie and his side on capturing the Hanrahan Cup from all of us here at Scoreline
