Former Kilkenny Senior Hurler DJ Carey says that the public will have to be patient with the young players learning their trade.

DJ says is hopeful that the young players can continue their progression from last year.

Speaking to KCLR Sport he said “We would have to say that the likes of Mossy Keoghan and John Donnelly and Richie Leahy did step-up”.

“They’re very young fellows all Under-21 last year, they did have a very good League so you are hoping that they will progress now even a further step and maybe one or two new lads coming in”.

He said “I don’t know what the team will be, but the likes of Huw Lawlor has to be putting himself in line for a place and guys like that so we will be looking forward to particularly new guys coming in and seeing how they are, and obviously it’s a big step-up so we also have to have patience because these guys need to learn their trade”.
