5-to-4-on favourite Djakadam won the Grade One John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown yesterday.
The Willie Mullins trained horse came home a length and a quarter ahead of the Gordon Elliot-trained Outlander.
Another Willie Mullins trained star Douvan was also a winner on his seasonal debut at Cork.
Ridden by Paul Townend, the 1/6 favourite was dominant throughout, although there was a slight little hiccup on the third last.
But really and truly the horse was never really troubled and marked the comeback in style.
Willie Mullins is happy that Djakadam is making nice progress.
“I suppose we will probably do what we did last year. Happy that he can win first time out so he is making nice progress”
